October 7th: Jessica Lahey: “The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn To Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed”
7:00-8:30pm – Main Gym. Jessica Lahey is an author and middle and high school teacher. She writes the bi-weekly column “The Parent Teacher Conference” for the New York Times and is a contributing writer for The Atlantic and a commentator on Vermont Public Radio. Lahey will set forth a plan for what doesn’t come naturally to most of us: stepping back and embracing our children’s failures.
Drake High School Student Center, 6:30-8:00pm. Drake High School will be hosting a parent Q&A session led by Jennifer Golick, LMFT and Clinical Director of Muir Wood Treatment Center together with Drake Peer Resource students.
Redwood High School 8:30-9:30am – Kreps. You asked and we listened! As requested by attendees of the Weed 101 Event, Jason Lechner, LMFT and Primary Therapist for Boys at Muir Woods Treatment Center, will come back to Redwood to discuss how to talk to your child about cannabis.
8:30-9:30am – Kreps. Jasmin Zeger, Senior Facilitator of Mindfulness Without Borders, will present innovative strategies to reduce stress and improve parents’ overall wellbeing with themselves and their children.

7:00-8:30pm. Small Gym. Join RHS Principal David Sondheim, School Counselors and RHS AP teachers for an informative session just before students select their courses for the 2016-2017 school year.
January 20th: Teen Health, Relationships and Sex: The facts, the myths and how to communicate with your teen
7:00-8:30pm – Theater. Jessica Colvin will introduce the role of the Marin Community Clinic at Redwood and Erica Monasterio, a Clinical Professor with the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at UCSF and the San Francisco Department of Public Health and over 29 years of clinical experience will provide parents with the tools to address the issues of dating and sex with their teens.
8:30-9:30am – Kreps Conference Center. Meet the Principal, Vice-Principals, Guidance Counselors and Attendance Clerk as well as our new Superintendent of the TUHSD and the President of the Board of Trustees. Learn how to work with RHS to provide your child with the best experience.

Come get an “inside look” into the Redwood student experience. This panel discussion is led by The Class of 2016, who will share their views on academic and social environments, balancing extracurriculars and challenges some students have faced and how they can be avoided.
7:00-9:00pm – Small Gym. This science based educational program will feature a panel including Kevin A. Sabet, drug policy advisor to three Presidential administrations, author of Reefer Sanity: Seven Great Myths About Marijuana and co-founder with former Congressman Patrick Kennedy of Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM). The panel will also include Jody Belsher, the creator of the award winning documentary The Other Side of Cannabis: Negative Effects of Marijuana on Our Youth. Belsher documents her son’s journey with marijuana addiction and features interviews with various neuro-scientists, doctors, addiction specialists and researchers. This event is sponsored by the Tamalpais Union School District and the Marin County Office of Education. Don’t miss it!
