October 21, 2015: Beyond Measure, the latest film by director Vickie Abeles who also directed Race to Nowhere

On Wednesday, October  21, 2015, the Bank of Marin  will be hosting the second annual film event to benefit SchoolsRule-Marin at the Christopher B Smith Rafael Film Center.  Beyond Measure, the latest film by director Vickie Abeles who also directed Race to Nowhere, offers  an optimistic picture of what’s possible in American education and  follows a diverse group of educators who are successfully pioneering fresh and often radically new approaches in their public schools with dramatic success.  Ms. Abeles will also be present at the screening and available for a question and answer session.

October 22: Redwood High School Sophomore Parent Social

Come enjoy this adult only social where you can meet other Sophomore parents and catch up with old friends. Light appetizers provided and no-host bar. Principal David Sondheim, Foundation President Sydney Joyner and PTSA President Michelle Sullivan will be on hand to talk about the upcoming school year.

November 4:  DATE CHANGE – NOVEMBER PTSA MEETING

Please mark your calendars!  The November PTSA Meeting is now on Wednesday, November 4,  8:30-10 in Kreps.  There will be NO meeting on Tuesday, November 10.  Our Parent Ed is a follow-up to our popular “Weed 101” evening presentation and is entitled “How to Communicate With Your Teen About Marijuana” with Muir Wood’s Jason Lechner (the first presenter at our Weed 101 event).

January 20th: Teen Health, Relationships and Sex: The facts, the myths and how to communicate with your teen

7:00-8:30pm – Theater. Jessica Colvin will introduce the role of the Marin Community Clinic at Redwood and Erica Monasterio, a Clinical Professor with the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at UCSF and the San Francisco Department of Public Health and over 29 years of clinical experience will provide parents with the tools to address the issues of dating and sex with their teens.

April 5: RHS Seniors’ Speak Panel

8:30-9:30am – Kreps Conference Center

Come get an “inside look” into the Redwood student experience.  This panel discussion is led by The Class of 2016, who will share their views on academic and social environments, balancing extracurriculars and challenges some students have faced and how they can be avoided.

February 9th: Summer Opportunities Panel

8:30-9:30am – Kreps Conference Center. Learn about summer opportunities for student internships, community service projects, summer education , paid employment and travel programs – locally and around the world.

Math Volunteers Needed

Job Description:

We are looking for parents who have the knowledge and time to volunteer in Algebra I and Geometry classes giving some 1:1 assistance to students who may need some extra individual attention. These duties may include working with student who have been absent or understanding a new concept, working on enrichment activities, working with students who are behind in homework or helping during smart period. If you are interested in helping please list your available times with your contact information on our sign up form. You will be contacted by a Redwood teacher. Thank you, PTSA.

Campus Tour Volunteers

Campus Tour volunteers host prospective families on tours.  The volunteers greet tour-goers, participate in dialog with them as you feel like it and accompany the tour during the walk around campus.  You do not have to lead the tour.  All tours begin in the Redwood Library.

Come and help out with the big Kick off Party for the Redwood Foundation at Mini of Marin.  We need set up and decoration help from 3 – 5:30, or check in guests from 5:45- 7:30
