MCOE High School Wellness Series: This speaker series will engage students through a variety of topics from emotional intelligence, anxiety, pressure, and leadership to substance use, LGBTQ+, digital wellness, and mindfulness. Upcoming workshops:
- Confronting Antisemitism Series – virtual workshops for students, parents/families, teachers and administrators.
- Series III – Genocide Awareness will be offered in March and April. PTSA will share more information about this series as we receive it.

We often condemn external events while being unaware of our own racism, and too often deny it. Join the PTSA and Redwood Principal David Sondheim for a session on racial equity with Deborah McKnight.
We strongly encourage all parents and caretakers to participate in this unique opportunity to develop our racial skills and consciousness. Marin is the most racially disparate county in California. As parents and caretakers, it is important that we gain an understanding of racial issues.This is Part 2 of the conversation we began in November but is open to both those who did and did not attend the first event. Everyone is encouraged to attend.Recommended listening/reading before the event:
- The first three episodes of Seeing White – Scene on Radio podcast: S2 E1:Turning the Lens, S2 E2: How Race was Made, and S2 E3: Made in America. We will discuss these during the session.

Christine Leppones of EF Ninja is an executive function coach here in Marin county. She has been working with neurodiverse students of all abilities for the past 8 years on creating new habits to be successful both in and out of school. Join us as Christine outlines strategies to help you and your child survive distance learning while honing critical executive function skills. The key, Christine says, is to get buy-in; collaborating to find that balance between support and independence, creating a scenario where everyone wins–and peace is restored to the household.

9/15/20 Recognize & Discuss the Signs of Suicide in Teenagers
Hosted by Jessica Colvin, MSW, MPH, PPSC, Wellness Director, Tam District, with presenters Tim Lea, Outreach and Education Coordinator for Suicide Prevention, Buckelew Programs and Kara Connors, MPH, Senior Program Coordinator for Suicide Prevention, Marin County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. Sheltering in place during Covid has increased parent concerns about isolation, anxiety, depression and suicide among their teenagers. Even under “normal” circumstances, engaging in conversations with teens around mental health and suicide prevention is difficult.
